NGC 6871, IC 1310 and Surrounding Nebulosity

NGC 8671, IC 1310, LBN 177, LBN 179, LBN 182

This field includes the southernmost extensions of the nebulosity around the star Gamma Cygni, which is sprinkled by numerous Milky Way stars. The background nebulosity seen in this photograph is extremely faint and fairly extended, and quite impossible to see visually. The brightest patches of nebulosity are designated LBN 177, LBN 179 and LBN 182 in the Lynd's Bright Nebulae catalog.

NGC 8671 and IC 1310 are the designations of two galactic star clusters at right and at the lower left in this frame, respectively, which consist only of a few stars and are not very conspicuous.
