NGC 6820 is a faint emission nebula which is located in the constellation Vulpecula, within a rich stretch of the Milky Way. It features a prominent dark column stretching well into the nebula from the northeast. The open cluster within the nebula's center is designated as NGC 6823. Both are located about 6000 light years from Earth. NGC 6823 is quite a young star cluster at only about 2 million years old.
