The globular cluster Messier 12 (NGC 6218) was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764, William Herschel was the first to resolve it into stars. It has an apparent magnitude of 6.6 and a diameter of 16 arcminutes, which corresponds to a linear extension of about 75 light years at a distance of 16.000 light years. The overall spectral type of this cluster is given as F7, which should make for slightly blueish stars.
M10 and M14 are two other prominent globular clusters in Ophiuchus.
