IC 4604 - Rho Ophiuchus Nebula

IC 4604

Rho Ophiuchi (at the center) is a triple star located at the southern end of the constellation Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer. It is embedded in a large blue reflection nebulosity designated IC 4604, which is mixed with several filaments of dark nebulae. It is part of the large Rho Ophiuchi/Antares nebula complex, one of the most colorful regions in the sky.

Antares, the brightest star of Scorpio, is located a few degrees to the south.
